Blicket in des Äthers blaue Fernen
Language: German (Deutsch)
Our translations:  ENG
Blicket in des Äthers blaue Fernen,
Seht, aus tausend Myriaden Sternen
Lächeln einzig zwei, die sich zusammen
Ewig voller Lieb' und Lust umflammen.
Als die Teufel in verruchten Stunden
Ihren Heiland an das Kreuz gebunden
Und der menschlich ausrief im Erblassen:
Vater!
Christen leben drauf in ew'gen Wonnen.

The twin stars
Language: English  after the German (Deutsch)
Gaze into the far blue reaches of the Aether,
See, from among a thousand myriads of stars
Only two smile, two that circle each other
In eternal flames full of love and joy.
When the devils in an evil hour
Had bound their Saviour onto the cross
And He humanly called out in dying:
Father! Father! hast Thou forsaken me?
The Father looks down from the glory of His throne,
Seeing the wounds of His beloved Son,
[And] how He dies a painful death,
Tears well forth from the eyes of God.
And two of them flash in opulent fullness
Through the heavens, stopping in the middle,
And transform themselves into bright suns,
Christians live upon [these suns] in eternal joy.
