In tiefer Ruh liegt um mich her
Language: German (Deutsch)
Our translations:  CAT DUT ENG FIN FRE GRE ITA KOR LIT NOR POR SPA
In tiefer Ruh liegt um mich her
Der Waffenbrüder Kreis;

An ihrem Busen warm!
Wie freundlich schien des Heerdes Gluth,
Lag sie in meinem Arm!

Hier, wo der Flammen düstrer Schein
Ach nur auf Waffen spielt,
Hier fühlt die Brust sich ganz allein,
Der Wehmuth Thräne quillt.

Herz! Daß der Trost Dich nicht verläßt!
Es ruft noch manche Schlacht. -
Bald ruh' ich wohl und schlafe fest,
Herzliebste - Gute Nacht!

Confirmed with Gedichte von Ludwig Rellstab. Erstes Bändchen. Berlin, bei Friedrich Laue. 1827, page 105; and with Mitternachtblatt für gebildete Stände. Herausgegeben von Müllner. 1826, Zweiter Band. Braunschweig, bei Friedrich Vieweg. No. 78. Braunschweig, am 30. Juni 1826, page 312. Note: the Mitternachtblatt edition has a typo in stanza 4, line 2, word 1 ("Es" is "Er".) In the Brockhaus 1844 and 1860 editions, stanza 4, line 1, word 4 ("Flammen") is "Flamme".

Note: in Schubert's song, in stanza 1, line 3, word 7 ("und") becomes "so" in the repetition.

Pensées de guerrier
NOTE: the footnotes have been removed from this text; return to general view
Language: French (Français)  after the German (Deutsch)
Autour de moi, dans une profonde quiétude,
Dorment en cercle mes compagnons d'arme ;
