Het klokgebed
Language: Dutch (Nederlands)
Hoe helder klinkt
de klokkentaal
ten torren uit:
tot negenmaal
herhaalt, herhaalt
de klepel, op
den ronden boord,
zijn beêgeklop!

De landman laat
zijn' rossen staan:
naar huis zal hij,
en rusten, gaan!
maar, eer hij stap
van stede zet,
zoo bidt hij nog
zijn klokgebed.

Een engel naar
Maria kwam:
de boodschap hij
van 't Boetelam
had medebracht:
en negenmaal
begroet haar nu
de klokkentaal.

Gods eeuwig Woord
het licht verliet
des hemels, en
Maria hiet
het moeder zijn
van Hem die, aan
den boom, voor ons
heeft boete ontvaân.

De landman, na
den laatsten klop,
van bidden houdt,
van werken, op;
zijn' rossen staan
op stal weerom,
en moeder wenscht
hem willekom.
