Wenn wir in höchsten Nöten sein
Language: German (Deutsch)
Our translations:  CAT DUT ENG FRE
Wenn wir in höchsten Nöten sein
Und wissen nicht, wo aus [noch]1 ein
Und finden weder Hilf noch Rat,
Ob wir gleich sorgen früh und spat,

So ist [dies]2 unser Trost allein,
Daß wir zusammen [ingemein]3
Dich [anrufen]4, o treuer Gott,
Um Rettung aus der Angst und Not.

Und heben unsre Aug'n und Herz
Zu dir in wahrer Reu' und Schmerz
Und suchen der Sünd' Vergebung
Und aller Strafen Linderung,

Die du verheißest gnädiglich
Allen, die darum bitten dich
Im Namen dein's Sohns Jesu Christ,
Der unser Heil und Fürsprech ist.

Drum kommen wir, o Herre Gott,
Und klagen dir all unsre Not,
Weil wir jetzt stehn verlaßen gar
In großer Trübsal und Gefahr.

Sieh nicht an unser Sünden groß,
Sprich uns [derselb]5 aus Gnaden los;
Steh uns in unserm Elend bei,
Mach uns von [allen Plagen]6 frei;

Auf daß von Herzen können wir
Nachmals mit Freuden danken dir,
Gehorsam sein nach deinem Wort,
Dich allzeit preisen hier und dort.

Wanneer wij zijn in hoogste nood
Language: Dutch (Nederlands)  after the German (Deutsch)
Wanneer wij zijn in hoogste nood,
Ons zien bedreigd door rampen groot,
En vinden nergens hulp of raad,
Hoewel wij tobben vroeg en laat,

Dan is dit onze troost alleen,
Dat wij tezamen in 't gemeen
U roepen aan, o trouwe God,
Die redt ons van ons angstig lot.

Wij heffen dus ons oog en hart
Naar U in echt berouw en smart
En smeken om zondevergeving,
Van alle straffen leniging,

Die gij belooft, genadig, nu
Allen die daar om smeken U,
In naam van Jezus, God, uw zoon,
Die ons verdedigt voor uw troon.

Wij komen daarom, Heer God groot,
En klagen U al onze nood,
Daar wij nu zijn een droeve schaar,
Verlaten en in groot gevaar.

Zie niet naar wat misdeden wij,
Spreek ons daarvan genadig vrij;
Sta ons in onze rampspoed bij
En wat ons kwelt schuif dat opzij.

Zodat van harte kunnen wij
U danken straks, bevrijd en blij,
Ons voegen naar uw woord vooral,
U altijd prijzen, overal.
