The mosquito sits at the window In the golden glow of evening, She polishes her wings And then nods off peacefully. And in the quiet chamber A maiden slumbers, Death has broken her In the midst of her blossoming; And when the morning sun Brightly shines upon the windows, The pale dead girl is Adorned and wreathed with flowers; And as they carry her body Out of the little chamber, The mosquito is merrily cavorting In the golden sunshine.
