Grita ao céu e a terra toda a Natureza!
Cala a passarada aos seus tristes queixumes
E reflete o mar toda a Sua riqueza...
Suave a luz da lua desperta agora
A cruel saudade que ri e chora!
Tarde uma nuvem rósea lenta e transparente

in des Himmels Weite, schön und traumversunken!
Leise tritt hervor aus der Unendlichkeit Frau Luna
die den Abend ziert, gleich einem süßen Mädchen,
das sich verträumt bereitet,
sehnlichst begehrend, schön zu werden,
Himmel, Erd’, alle Natur anflehend!
Vögel verstummen, wenn sie traurig klagt,
im Meere spiegelt sich ihr reicher Glanz …
Sanft erweckt das Mondlicht nun
ein schmerzliches Verlangen, das weint und lacht!
Abend - eine Wolke, rosenfarben, ungetrübt und ohne Hast 
in des Himmels Weite, schön und traumversunken!
