Sprach Mönch und Nonne zu mir:
"Wir hoffen, die beiden besuchen
Recht bald unser tannig Revier.
"Da breitet sich ihnen zu Füßen
Ihr Erbland in wonnigem Schein -
Und wenn sie auch wacker sich küssen,
Sie werden d'rum nicht gleich zu Stein."

Confirmed with "Der Brautwillkomm auf Wartburg", Fünf Dichtungen von Joseph Viktor von Scheffel, Stuttgart: Verlag von Adolf Bonz & Comp., 1887, pages 32-33. Under the poem are the words "(Landschaftsbild wird dargebracht.)", which can be translated "(A landscape painting is presented.)"

Me dirent le moine et la nonne :
« Nous espérons que les deux visiteront
Très bientôt notre domaine de pins.
« Là à leurs pieds s'étendront
Les terres ancestrales dans une lumière heureuse --
Et s'ils s'embrassaient courageusement,
Ils ne seront pas immédiatement transformés en pierre. »
