Года и дни бегут по кругу.
Летит песок; звенит река.
Супруга в дом идёт к супругу.
Седеет бровь, дрожит рука.
И светлый глаз уже слезится,
на всё вокруг глядя с тоской.
И сердце, жить устав, стремится
хотя б в земле найти покой.

Старуха, где твой чёрный волос,
Твой гибкий стан и лёгкий шаг?
Куда пропал твой звонкий голос,
Кольцо с мечом и твой кушак?
Теперь тебе весь мир несносен,
противен ход годов и дней.
Беги старуха в рощу сосен
и в землю лбом ложись и тлей.

Atgulti žemėje ramiai.

Kur, sene, tavo kasos juodos,
Lankstus liemuo, žvali eiga?
Kur dingo balso tavo grožis,
Kur žiedas, juosta išpuošta?
Pasaulis visas tau nemielas,
Šlykšti dienų greita seka.
Tad bėki tu greičiau pušynan
Ant žemės gulk ir pūk visa.
