1. The Mother was standing, beautiful, Joyfully near the manger of hay While the little one was lying [there]. 2. Whose soul rejoices elated and glowing [As] the jubilant melody passed through 3. Oh how happy and blessed she was, immaculate, the mother of the only begotten one. 4. Who was joyous and smiling Exulting when she was seeing The birth of the Holy Child 5. Who is he who would not rejoice, If he saw the mother of Christ In such great comfort? 6. Who is not able to rejoice together, Gazing at the pious mother playing with the son? 7. For the sins of his people He saw Jesus among the donkeys, And he was subject to punishment. 8. She saw her sweet son Whom she adored, crying Swathed in cheap bandages 9. Christ was born in a manger The citizens of heaven sing joyfully With immense gladness 10. An old man was standing with a girl With neither words nor speech Astonished to their cores 11. How now! Mother, fountain of love I feel the strength of your fire Make it so I can feel through you 12. Make my heart burn With love for Christ God So that I am pleasing to him 13. Blessed Mother, who guides me, May you consider the hardships Fixed firmly in our hearts 14. Since your son having slipped from heaven, Worthy to be born [in a manger] of hay, Divide with me his punishments 15. Make me rejoice with thee To be united with Jesus As long as I live 16.
