Soleil
Language: French (Français)
Our translations:  CHI ENG
Incendiant les horizons
Au ciel clair le soleil rougeoie :
Il met aux toits bleus des maisons
Comme une auréole de joie.

Les fillettes au teint bruni,
Dont les farandoles rieuses
Se déroulent à l'infini
Dans les grands prés bordés d'yeuses,

Lancent dans l'air leurs rires frais,
-- Gazouillis d'oiseaux sur la branche, --
Et le vieil écho des forêts
Rajeunit à leur gaîté franche.

Leurs costumes aux tons divers
Rouge flambant ou jaune orange,
Sur le sombre des arbres verts,
Promènent un reflet étrange.

Dans cet épanouissement,
Un rayon d'espérance rose
Sourit délicieusement
Au cœur fermé du plus morose.

Incendiant les horizons
Au ciel clair le soleil rougeoie :
Et met aux toits bleus des maisons
Comme une auréole de joie.

Sunlight
Language: English  after the French (Français)
Blazing on the horizon
In the clear sky the sun glows red:
It paints the roofs of the houses blue
Like an aura of joy.

The young girls, brown from sun
Whose laughing farandole dances
Surge ithout end
In their great dark lined eyes,

Cast their youthful laughter into the air,
-- Birds calling on the branch, --
And the forests’ old echos
Are renewed by their guileless mirth.

Their many-colored costumes
Blazing red or orange yellow,
On the darkness of green trees,
Create a strange reflection.

In this bloom,
A pink ray of hope
Smiles deliciously
In even the most melancholy, closed heart.

Blazing on the horizon
In the clear sky the sun glows red:
It paints the roofs of the houses blue
Like an aura of joy.
