In the cool morning air I walked Down along the river. Springtime's blue scent still lies Murkily embraced by mists. March is still adorning the meadow with hoarfrost, But the trembling of all the branches And a stripe of azure far in the east Foretell new life. I gazed toward the bright east, About which the mists were swirling, And with the sight my soul Took in courage and comfort. I thought of you: for though mists Roil about my life, A greeting from you, a glance at you, Must give me light and clarity. And as the azure beam in the east [Is definitely allied with]1 springtime, Thus through you a complete happiness, You [delightful one]2, is proclaimed!
