Cavalcar damunt d’un esvelt cavall amb l’espasa al costat, pel mig de l’avinguda, seria per a mi un bon ofici. I portar guants de cuir flamenc i un manyoc de plomes fixat al meu capell que fes girar el cap de les dones. Saltar a la sella, al llarg de la desfilada, flirtejar amb dames belles i gràcils, i un besamans de comiat al portal. Acompanyat d’una formosa dona, esguardar des de la finestra d’arc i fer una reverència quan el soldat ens hagués de saludar. Donaria una propina als escombriaires de les voreres i pensaria quina mala sort és ser escombriaire.
