Der Straßenkehrer

Auf schlankem Rößlein reiten
Den Degen an der Seiten,
Inmitten der Allee,
Das wär für mich ein köstlich Metier.

Und Handschuh flämischledern
Und einen Büschel Federn
An meinen Hut gesteckt,
Darnach das Frauenvolk die Hälse reckt.

Im Sattel voltigieren,
Paradelang charmieren
Mit Damen fein und schmal,
Und »Küß die Hand« beim Abschied am Portal.

Mit einer schönen Frauen
Aus Bogenfenstern schauen
Und nicken einen Gruß,
Wenn der Soldat uns salutieren muß.

Ich würd ein Trinkgeld geben
Den Fegern in den Gräben
Und dächte mir dabei,
Wie übel dran doch so ein Feger sei.

L’escombriaire

Cavalcar damunt d’un esvelt cavall
amb l’espasa al costat,
pel mig de l’avinguda,
seria per a mi un bon ofici.

I portar guants de cuir flamenc
i un manyoc de plomes
fixat al meu capell
que fes girar el cap de les dones.

Saltar a la sella,
al llarg de la desfilada,
flirtejar amb dames belles i gràcils,
i un besamans de comiat al portal.

Acompanyat d’una formosa dona,
esguardar des de la finestra d’arc
i fer una reverència
quan el soldat ens hagués de saludar.

Donaria una propina
als escombriaires de les voreres
i pensaria
quina mala sort és ser escombriaire.
