"Sieh, du hast den bunten Strauß
Mir am Busen ganz zerknickt",
Spricht mein Lieb, wenn gar zu fest
An das Herz sie mich gedrückt.

"Und du küßt mich viel zu oft,
Alle Leute sagen's doch!"
Spricht mein süßes Lieb zu mir,
Spricht mein Lieb und küßt mich noch.

"Warum weinst du?" sprach mein Lieb,
Als ich von ihr scheiden ging;
Und an ihrer Wimper Saum
Perlend Trän' an Träne hing.

Everyone is saying it!"
My sweet love says to me,
Yet she continues to kiss me.

"Why do you weep?" said my love,
When I parted from her;
And upon the border of her lashes
Teardrop upon teardrop hung like pearls.
