Arreu, damunt teulades i cornises, la constant, silent caiguda de les gotes, i lluny, endins dels camps ombrívols, suau, com un vel desplegat que puja i baixa en el vent i que sembla mort i tanmateix viu. El camp que atrau el núvol, el cel que malda vers la terra, tot el que es bressa i flueix i es plany i tremola en aquesta constant, suau cançó, com un profund so de violins, embolcalla la fosca pruïja d’un secret anhel en sons i la transmet més lluny, i ací i allà commou un cor que, delint-se per l’enyorança del mateix país, no pogué trobar cap paraula. I allò que ni una paraula ni un violí diu, esdevé so i s’acreix a un silent poder en el constant, suau compàs d’un bressol de la ventosa nit de pluja que s’endú allò que, sense plànyer-se, lluità i sofrí en les seves ombrívoles cançons.
