Prière au sommeil
Language: French (Français)
Our translations:  ENG
Somme, doux repos de nos yeux.
Aimé des hommes et des dieux,
Fils de la Nuit et du Silence,
Qui peux les esprits délier,
Qui fait les soucis oublier,
Endormant toute violence.

Clos mes yeux, fais-moi sommeiller,
Je t'attends sur mon oreiller,
Où je tiens la tête appuyée :
Je suis dans mon lit sans mouvoir,
Pour mieux ta douceur recevoir,
Douceur dont la peine est noyée.

Prayer to sleep
Language: English  after the French (Français)
Sleep, sweet repose of our eyes,
Loved by men and gods,
Son of the Night and of Silence,
Who can liberate the spirits,
Who makes cares be forgotten,
Putting to sleep all violence,

Close my eyes, make me fall asleep,
I wait on my pillow,
Where I prop up my head;
I am in my bed, unmoving,
Better to receive your sweetness,
A sweetness that drowns all pain.
