Kuck‑Kuck", die Leye lang
Language: German (Deutsch)  after the Dutch (Nederlands)
Our translations:  ENG
"Kuck-Kuck", die Leye lang
Ist alles in der Runden
Beteppicht und besommerblumt
Unds Erdereich verschwunden.

"Kuck-Kuck", auf grüner Weid,
So fern ich's kann erpassen,
Hat überall der Sonnenschein
Sein Silbergeld gelassen.

"Kuck-Kuck", die Kuckucksblum,
Vielmannigfalt im Maien,
Ich seh sie fahren hin und her
Und schwenken wie die Leye.

"Kuck-Kuck", die Leye lang
Ich kann's nicht unterscheiden,
Sind's Wellen oder Blumen, die
Mein schweifend Auge leiten?

"Kuck-Kuck", der Kuckuck ruft
In einem fort dazwischen;
Sitzt wohl auf einem Wipfel in
Den fernen, fernen Büschen.

Cuckoo", along the Leye
Language: English  after the German (Deutsch)
"Cuckoo", along the Leye
Everything all around is
Carpeted and covered in summer flowers
And the earthly realm has vanished.

"Cuckoo", upon the green meadow
As far as I can await it longingly,
Everywhere the sunshine has
Left behind its silver coin.

"Cuckoo", the meadow campion
Is numerous among the wildflowers,
I see them passing back and forth
And meandering like the Leye.

"Cuckoo", along the Leye
I cannot determine
Whether waves or flowers
Guide my roaming eyes?

"Cuckoo", the cuckoo
Interrupts continuously;
It must be sitting upon one of the treetops
In the distant, distant bushes.
