Les nuages là-haut vont rêvant ;
pas de vent, nul rayon n'y met son coloris.
On dirait une bande d'oiseaux dans les eaux
mirant leur gros ventre envelours gris.

Les nuages là-haut vont planant.
Maintenant la brise ébouriffe leur poitrail
où les rais du soleil découvert
ont ouvert des blessures d'or et de corail.

Les nuages là-haut vont mourant;
car, plus grand, sous la dent féroce
qui les mord s'élargit le grand trou
peu à peu tout en feu
par où fruit le sang et vient la mort.

Le nuages là-haut vont crevant.
Et le vent les jette à la mer qui se ternit.
On dirait une bande d'oiseaux dans les eaux
plongeant pour mourir où fut leur nid.
