How lovely it is to see when the times again dawn, When people gaze contently about in the meadows, When people ask each other how they are, When people compose themselves for joyous living. Just as the heavenly vault arches and broadens, So it is with happiness then in the lowlands and outdoors, When the heart yearns for new life, The birds sing, crying out in song. The person who often questioned his inner being Talks of life then -- [life] from which his speech emanates, When sorrow does not gnaw at the soul, And one stands happily before one's possessions. When a dwelling place is clothed in splendor, built high in the air, Then mankind finds the field roomier and pathways Lead away out into the far distance, that one may look about, And well-built crossings span a stream.
