Amb el meu llaüt, que tan bé ha sonat, a través de molts països, retorno a aquesta ciutat. Camino pels carrers, la nit és tan fosca, i tot tan abandonat, molt divers del que havia imaginat. M’aturo prop de la font que segueix mormolant com abans, molts passen pel davant, ningú em reconeix. Llavors vaig sentir sonar violins i flautes, àmplies finestres resplendents, entremig giravoltava molta gent, forastera i alegre. I el cor l l’esperit m’abrusaven, em vaig sentir empès vers l’ampli món, els músics tocaven, i jo vaig aixecar el camp.
