Come un santo che prega il Signor ...
Mi guardavi nel fondo degli occhi,
Sfavillava il tuo sguardo d'amor.

Tu parlavi e la voce sommessa...
Mi chiedea dolcemente mercè...
Solo un guardo che fosse promessa,
Imploravi, curvata al mio piè.

Io tacevo e coll'anima forte
Il desio tentatore lottò.
Ho provato il martirio e la morte
pur mi vinsi e ti dissi di no.

Ma il tuo labbro sfiorò la mia faccia...
E la forza del cor mi tradì.
Chiusi gli occhi,ti stesi le braccia...
Ma, sognavo...E il bel  sogno svanì.

1 خیال کردم که در برابرم زانو زده ای،
همچون قدیسی که خدا را نیایش می‌کند...
به عمق چشمانم می‌نگریستی،
و برق عشق در نگاهت هویدا بود.

به نجوا به سخن در آمدی، و با آن صدای آهسته...
به نرمی از من طلب بخشش می‌کردی...
تنها یک نگاه، تا که وعده ی ما باشد،
التماس کنان در پایم افتاده بودی. 

من خاموش ماندم و با اراده ای راسخ
با تمنایی که وسوسه ام می‌کرد جنگیدم.
رنج بسیار و مرگ بر من گذشت،
با این حال بر خود پیروز شدم تا به تو نه بگویم.

اما، لب های تو صورتم را نوازش کردند،
و نیروی قلبم به من خیانت ورزید.
چشمانم را بستم، بازوانم را به سویت گشودم،
اما، همه رویای من بود، و این رویای زیبا ناپدید شد...
