Nit. Foscúria. A les meves mans fatigades, després del dur feinejar del dia, adreçat a davallar vers la nit eterna, deixo reposar el meu front. Quina calma! A l’ampli espai no se sent cap soroll! Una fulla morta a penes fa fressa al camí, en el seu obscur viatge els núvols no tenen ni lluna ni estrelles com acompanyants. Lentament, del meu pit es desclava la maligna espina; inconscientment la meva ànima es desprèn de tot el que l’envoltava durant el dia. Tot el que ella reconeix de reconfort i d’amor sorgeix del meravellós país dels somnis, familiarment, es vincla al seu damunt. Oh consoladora de l’ànima, sigues benvinguda, tu, plena d’averanys, de qui la melodia ha tant sovint llevat els malsons del meu pit! Deixa’m escoltar de nou la teva veu, profunda font onírica de cants engalanats, i escoltar el mormol de les teves cordes d’argent, extasiat i perdut en somnis!
