Mein Ländchen
Language: German (Deutsch)
Im Ländchen, da ich wohne,
Steigt himmelhoch die Firn;
Mit einer Silberkrone
Ist blank geziert die Stirn!
Es ist so schön, es ist so hehr,
Mein Ländchen lass' ich nimmermehr!
Im Ländchen, da ich wohne,
Die Freiheit ist zu Haus;
Sie winkt vom Felsenthrone
Weit in die Welt hinaus!
Hier bin ich froh, hier weil' ich gern,
Hier strahlet mir mein guter Stern!
Das Ländchen, da ich wohne,
Soll mir so eigen sein
Als wie dem Schweizersohne
Sein trautes Mütterlein!
Es ist so traut, es ist so gut;
Ich opf're ihm mein Herz und Blut!

My dear country
Language: English  after the German (Deutsch)
In the dear country in which I live,
The old snow lies sky-high;
Its brow is shiningly decorated
With a silver crown!
It is so beautiful, it is so lofty,
Nevermore shall I leave my dear country!
In the dear country in which I live,
Freedom is at home;
From the rocky throne it waves
Wide out into the world!
Here I am happy, here I gladly dwell,
Here my good star shines for me!
The dear country in which I live,
Shall be mine
Just as a dear mother
Is to a Swiss son!
It is so homey, it is so good;
I offer it my heart and my blood!
