Ich bin ein Fischer an dieser Küste
Language: German (Deutsch)  after the Italian - Neapolitan (dialect)
Our translations:  ENG
Ich bin ein Fischer an dieser Küste,
Die schönsten Fische fang' ich mir ein.
Mein Fischernetz ist ein Netz der Liebe;

I am a fisherman along this coast
Language: English  after the German (Deutsch)
I am a fisherman along this coast,
I catch myself the most beautiful fish.
My fishing net is a net of love;
Even the moray eel might well swim into it.
If a favourable fate lets me catch them,
Then, oh how jealous they shall be.
Ah, how lovely is the fisher-maiden,
Ah, how she causes me misery and anguish!

Yesterday was an ill-starred day,
For just by a whisker I failed to catch her.
I was just about to catch her in the meshes,
But then the net must have torn.
If my luck brings her back my way,
Then she shall never get away from me, oh no!
Ah, how lovely is the fisher-maiden,
Ah, how she causes me misery and anguish!
