The days creep Onward so desolately: Enduring and keeping silent Is my whole object. I am unmoved by any Blooming upon a green meadow, By any glowing clouds, Any heavenly blue. Take my adornment, It gleams like light; The bride in sorrow Does not desire it. The golden ribbons, The spoils of happiness, The splendid garments, -- Take it all! The dreams drift away, The summer passes quickly: That is the dreary Song of life. The leaves fall In the pale forest; The dead beckon . . . Soon I shall join them!
