Im Wald in grüner Runde,
Wo Wipfel über Wipfel schaut,
Auf stillem Wiesengrunde
Hab' ich die Hütte mir gebaut;

Sie steht, bewahrt vor Stürmen
An graubemooster Felsenwand,
Baumriesen sie umtürmen,
Die schützen sie mit Freundeshand;

Ins Fenster blüht die Rose,
Die Rebe grünt hinauf zum Dach,
Mit heimlichem Gekose
Rauscht nah vorbei der Wiesenbach.

Im Wald zur guten Stunde
Hab' ich die Stätte mir erschaut,
Und auf entlegnem Grunde
Die traute Hütte mir [gebaut]1.

Vom Frühroth angelächelt,
Wie blickt ins Grün sie lebensfrisch!
Vom Abendhauch umfächelt,
Versinkt ins Thal sie träumerisch;

Am Mittag hält von Zweigen
Den Schirm ein Sohn des Walds ihr vor,
Des Nachts umschlingt in Reigen
Sie leis der Wiesen Elfenchor.

La cabane

Dans la forêt, entourée de verdure,
Là où les cimes regardent les cimes,
Sur une prairie tranquille
J'ai construit ma cabane.

Elle se tient, protégée des tempêtes,
Contre une falaise grise et moussue,
Des arbres gigantesques la dominent,
Ils la protègent de leurs mains amicales.

La rose fleurit à la fenêtre
La vigne verte grimpe vers le toit,
Avec des paroles secrètes
Le ruisseau de la prairie murmure tout près.

Dans la forêt à un moment favorable
J'ai choisi l'emplacement pour moi,
Et dans cet endroit éloigné
J'ai construit une cabane confortable.

Avec le sourire de l'aube
Comme fraîche et vivante, elle a l'air dans la verdure !
Rafraîchie par la brise du soir
Elle disparaît dans la vallée comme un rêve ;

À midi avec ses branches, se tient
L'ombre d'un fils de la forêt.
La nuit en rondes elle est entourée
Doucement par le chœur des elfes de la prairie.

Dans la forêt, entourée de verdure,
