Ich suche, suche alleine, ich wandl' und weine und weine, ich kann ja nicht finden mein eigen Grab, wo ich's gesucht unterm Monde auch hab'. Og stjerner skal over den Sterne doch überall bleibt es mir ferne. Zu meiner Mutter nun geh' ich, der alten heiligen Mutter. Ganz leise anklopf' ich da mit einem Stab, die Mutter bleibt still und liegt stumm in dem Grab. Und über mir scheinen die Sterne, mein Grab aber bleibt mir ferne.
