Plus ne chantez plaintive tourterelle,
Doux chants pourroient éveiller les jaloux.
Devez chérir et protéger ma belle
Est douce, tendre et simple comme vous.

Pouvez-vous pas, ruisseau dans cette plaine,
Moins murmurer peur de troubler plaisir.
Ah! le voyez moi-même dans ma peine,
Garde en mon sein moitié de mes soupirs.

Ach! laßt meine Geliebte zurückkehren,
Leichten Schrittes wandeln auf diesem hohen Turm,
Die tiefe Nacht würde mir erstrahlen,
Mehr noch als des Tages schöner Lichtstrahl.

Singet nicht mehr, klagende Turteltaube,
Zarte Gesänge könnten die Neider wachrufen,
Solltest verehren und behüten meine Holde,
So lieblich, zärtlich und bescheiden wie du.

Könntet Ihr nicht, Bächlein in der Aue,
Gedämpfter murmeln aus Furcht, daß Lust betöret,
Ach! sehet mich selbst in meinem Kummer,
Haltend in der Brust die Hälfte meiner Seufzer.
