Der er et herligt Land,
Det kaldes Poesien,
Det naar i Himlen op,
Det rummes i en Rosenknop,
Og Hjertemelodien
Bor paa dets grønne Strand.

Der faaes det rige Guld,
Hvor ved Du Verdner vinder,
Der bliver Hjertet ungt;
Og er dig Livet altfor tungt,
Du Jacobsstigen finder
Til Himlen underfuld.

Der til et Skjønhedsdigt
Sig Hverdagslivet hæver;
Du føler Gud er nær.
Det Forbigangne lever der;
Den stærke Tænker bæver,
Saa stort er her, saa rigt.

Hvor Verden savner Ord,
Her liden Fugl har Sange.
Held den, som der blev Drot!
Ved ham alt Sandt og Skjønt og godt
Trods Paradisets Slange
Slaar Glorie om vor Jord.

Det Aandens Hindostan,
Det Hjem for Melodien,
Det Pagtens Land med Gud,
Som staar, naar Verdner slettes ud,
Det kaldes Poesien,
Det Lysets Fædreland.

La poésie

Il existe un pays magnifique
Qui s'appelle Poésie
Il monte jusqu'au ciel,
Il tient dans un bouton de rose,
Et la mélodie du cœur
Habite ses verts rivages.

Il y a là abondance d'or
Avec lequel tu conquerras le monde,
Là le cœur reste jeune ;
Et si la vie est trop lourde pour toi,
Tu trouveras l'échelle de Jacob
Miraculeusement déployée vers le ciel.

Chaque jour de la vie s'élève
Un harmonieux poème ;
On sent la proximité de Dieu.
Le temps passé vit ici ;
De fortes pensées y palpitent,
Si grandes, si riches.

Là où l'univers manque de mots,
Il y a le chant d'un petit oiseau.
Bonne chance, qu'il devienne roi !
Avec lui toute parole, toute beauté et tout bien, 
En dépit du serpent d'éden,
Chante la Gloire de notre terre.

L'Hindoustan de l'esprit,
La demeure de la mélodie,
Le pays de l'alliance avec Dieu,
Qui se dresse quand les mondes s'effacent,
S'appelle Poésie,
La patrie de la lumière.
