Es schaukelt so leise
Der spielende Wind
In sicherem Netze
Das liebliche Kind.

Er schaukelt dich, Herzchen,
Was willst du noch mehr,
Mit freundlichem Kosen
Wohl hin und wohl her.

Er scheucht dir die Fliegen
Und fächelt dich lieb,
Und raubt tausend Küsse,
Der schelmische Dieb.

Er küsst dir die Schläfe,
Die Wänglein so rund,
Und küsst dir die Locken,
Den rosigen Mund.

Drum schlumm're, mein Herzchen,
Dein Wächter, der Wind,
Dein freundlicher Hüter,
Er wieget das Kind.

Du bist ein stilles, liebeverklärtes

Und das Bewußtsein deines Werthes
  Die einz'ge Tugend, die Dir fehlt.
