6 Lieder

Song Cycle by W. Rose

1. O, der blaue, blaue Himmel  [sung text not yet checked]

Language: German (Deutsch)
O der blaue, blaue Himmel!
O das grüne, grüne Thal!
Goldner Würmchen bunt Gewimmel
In dem goldnen, goldnen Stral!

Und von allen Blütenbäumen
Woget süßer, süßer Duft,
Und in allen Himmelsräumen
Woget laue, laue Luft.

Offen stehn des Himmels Pforten,
Nieder strömet sel'ge Lust,
Überall und allerorten
Blüht's und blüht in jeder Brust.

  • by Otto Friedrich Gruppe (1804 - 1876), no title, appears in Gedichte, in Frühling, no. 1, first published 1835

3. Komm in die stille Nacht  [sung text not yet checked]

Language: German (Deutsch)
Komm in die stille Nacht! --
  Liebchen! was zögerst du?
  Sonne ging längst zur Ruh',
  Welt schloß die Augen zu,
Rings nur einzig die Liebe wacht!

Liebchen, was zögerst du?
  Schon sind die Sterne hell,
Schon ist der Mond zur Stell',
  Eilen so schnell, so schnell!
Liebchen, [mein]1 Liebchen, drum eil' auch du!

Sonne ging längst zur Ruh! --
  Traust wohl dem Schimmer nicht,
  Der durch die Blüten bricht?
  Treu ist des Mondes Licht.
Liebchen, mein Liebchen, was fürchtest du?

Welt schloß die Augen zu!
  Blumen und Blütenbaum
  Schlummern in süßem Traum,
  [Erde, sie]2 atmet kaum,
Liebe nur schaut [den]3 Liebenden zu! –

Einzig die Liebe wacht,
  Ruft dich [allüberall]4.
  Höre die Nachtigall,
  Hör' meiner Stimme Schall,
[Liebchen, o komm in die stille Nacht!]5

4. Mondnacht  [sung text not yet checked]

Language: German (Deutsch)
Es war, als [hätt']1 der Himmel,
Die Erde still geküßt,
Daß sie im Blütenschimmer
Von ihm [nun]2 träumen müßt.

Die Luft ging durch die Felder,
Die Ähren wogten sacht,
Es rauschten leis die Wälder,
So sternklar war die Nacht.

Und meine Seele spannte
Weit ihre Flügel aus,
Flog [durch]3 die stillen [Lande]4,
Als flöge sie nach Haus.

Text Authorship:
