Dutch (Nederlands) translations of Vier Duette, opus 8

by Georg Eduard Goltermann (1824 - 1898)

Return to the original list

1. Die Trostlosen  [sung text not yet checked]
by Georg Eduard Goltermann (1824 - 1898), "Die Trostlosen", op. 8 (Vier Duette) no. 1 [ duet for 2 voices and piano ]
Language: German (Deutsch)
Mein Liebchen, wir sassen beisammen,
Traulich im leichten Kahn.
Die Nacht war still, und wir schwammen
Auf weiter Wasserbahn.

Die Geisterinsel, die schöne,
Lag dämm'rig im Mondenglanz;
Dort klangen liebe Töne,
Dort wogte der Nebeltanz.

Dort klang es lieb und lieber,
Und wogt' es hin und her;
Wir aber schwammen vorüber,
Trostlos auf weitem Meer.

Text Authorship:

Language: Dutch (Nederlands)
Mijn liefje, wij zaten tezamen
Knus in de lichte boot.
De nacht was stil en wij kwamen
Op ‘t water, wijd en groot.

Het geesteneiland, dat schone,
Lag scheem’rig in maneglans;
Daar klonken lieve tonen,
Daar wiegde de neveldans.

Daar klonk het lief, onpeilbaar,
En 't golfde weg en mee;
Wij echter dreven voorbij daar,
Troostloos op de1 wijde zee.
