Zierlich ist des Vogels Tritt im Schnee,
Wenn er wandelt [auf]1 des Berges Höh':
[Zierlicher schreibt]2 Liebchens liebe Hand,
Schreibt ein Brieflein mir in ferne Land'.

In die Lüfte hoch [ein]3 Reiher steigt,
Dahin weder Pfeil noch Kugel [fleugt]4:
[Tausendmal]5 so hoch und so geschwind

Gràcil és el pas de l’ocell damunt la neu
quan camina al cim de la muntanya:
però més gràcil és encara la mà de la meva estimada
quan m’escriu una carta des d’un país llunyà.

Un agró s’envola amunt vers l’aire,
allà on ni les fletxes o les bales poden arribar;
però mil voltes més alts i lleugers
són els pensaments d’un amor fidel.

     Verdeja i floreix
     formós el mes de maig;
     la meva estimada deu passejar
     lliure i joiosa.

Al rocam, prop del riu,
on ella em feu aquell bes,
el primer damunt l’herba,
hi veig alguna cosa!
És ella?
