1. The bouquet that I have picked
Language: English
The bouquet that I have picked,
let it greet you a thousand times!
I have often bent down,
ah, well over a thousand times,
and pressed it to my heart -
maybe even a hundred thousand times!

2. Nachtgedanken  [sung text not yet checked]
by Paul Hermann Franz Graener (1872 - 1944), "Nachtgedanken", op. 94 (Vier Lieder zu Gedichten von Goethe) no. 2, published 1932 [ voice and piano ]

2. Nighttime thoughts
Language: English
I am sorry for you, unfortunate stars,
You who are beautiful and shine so gloriously,
Who gladly gleam for the hard-pressed sailor,
Unrewarded by gods and by people:
For you do not love, you never knew love!
Inexorably, eternal hours lead
Your ranks through the broad heavens.
What a journey you have already completed
Since I, lingering in the arms of my beloved,
Forgot about you and about midnight!

3. Behandelt die Frauen mit Nachsicht  [sung text not yet checked]
by Paul Hermann Franz Graener (1872 - 1944), "Behandelt die Frauen mit Nachsicht", op. 94 (Vier Lieder zu Gedichten von Goethe) no. 3, published 1932 [ voice and piano ]
Language: German (Deutsch)
Behandelt die Frauen mit Nachsicht!
Aus krummer Rippe ward sie erschaffen,
Gott konnte sie nicht ganz grade machen.
Willst du sie biegen, sie bricht;

Läßt du sie ruhig, sie wird noch krümmer;
Du guter Adam, was ist denn schlimmer? -
Behandelt die Frauen mit Nachsicht:
Es ist nicht gut, daß euch eine Rippe bricht.

4. Gegenwart  [sung text not yet checked]
by Paul Hermann Franz Graener (1872 - 1944), "Gegenwart", op. 94 (Vier Lieder zu Gedichten von Goethe) no. 4, published 1932 [ voice and piano ]
Language: German (Deutsch)
Alles kündet dich an!
Erscheinet die herrliche Sonne,
Folgst du, so hoff ich es, bald.

Trittst du im Garten hervor,
So bist du die Rose der Rosen,
Lilie der Lilien zugleich.

Wenn du zum Tanze dich regst,
So regen sich alle Gestirne
Mit dir und um dich umher.

Nacht! und so wär es denn Nacht!
Nun [überscheinst]1 du des Mondes
lieblichen, ladenden Glanz.

Ladend und lieblich bist Du,
Und Blumen, Mond und Gestirne
huldigen, Sonne, nur Dir.

Sonne! so sei du auch mir
Die Schöpferin herrlicher Tage;
Leben und Ewigkeit ist's.

4. Presence
Language: English
 Everything announces your presence!
 When the majestic Sun appears,
I hope you will follow soon.

When you walk in the garden,
you are the rose of roses
and the lily of lilies at the same time.

 When you move in dance,
 all the stars move
 with you and about you.

Night! and so it is then night!
 Now you outshine the moon's
 lovely, inviting gleam.

 You are attractive and lovely
and the flowers, moon and stars
 worship only you, my sun!

My sun! be also to me
 the creator of majestic days;
 this is life and eternity.
