Italian (Italiano) translations of Zwei Lieder für 1 Singstimme mit Pianofortebegleitung, opus 8

by Martin Jacobi (1864 - 1919)

1. Wiegenlied  [sung text not yet checked]
by Martin Jacobi (1864 - 1919), "Wiegenlied", op. 8 (Zwei Lieder für 1 Singstimme mit Pianofortebegleitung) no. 1, published 1894 [ voice and piano ], Berlin, Paez
Language: German (Deutsch)
Vom Berg [hinabgestiegen]1
Ist nun des Tages Rest;
Mein Kind liegt in der Wiegen,
Die [Vöglein]2 all' im Nest;
Nur ein ganz klein Singvögelein
Ruft weit daher im Dämmerschein:
"Gut' Nacht! gut' Nacht!
Lieb' Kindlein, gute Nacht!"

Das Spielzeug ruht im Schreine,
Die Kleider auf der Bank,
Ein [Mäuschen]3 ganz alleine
Es raschelt noch im Schrank,
Und draußen steht der Abendstern
Und winkt dem Kind aus weiter Fern':
"Gut' Nacht! gut' Nacht!
Lieb' Kindlein, gute Nacht!"

Die Wiege geht im Gleise,
Die Uhr [pickt]4 hin und her,
Die Fliegen nur ganz leise
[Sie]5 summen noch daher.
Ihr Fliegen, laßt mein Kind in Ruh'!
Was [summt]6 ihr ihm so heimlich zu?
"Gut' Nacht! gut' Nacht!
Lieb' Kindlein, gute Nacht!"

Der Vogel und die Sterne,
[Die Fliegen]7 rings umher,
Sie haben mein Kind [schon]8 gerne,
Die Engel noch viel mehr.
Sie decken's mit den Flügeln zu
Und singen leise: "Schlaf in Ruh!
Gut' Nacht! gut' Nacht!
Lieb' Kindlein, gute Nacht!"

1. In estate
Language: Italian (Italiano)
Dietro al monte disceso
ora finisce il giorno.
Sta nella culla il bimbo
nel nido gli uccellini;
Ne resta uno soltanto
che canta lontano al tramonto:
"Buona notte! buona notte!
Bambino bello, buona notte!".

I giocattoli stanno nella panca
i vestiti nell'armadio,
un topolino tutto solo
raschia nella dispensa,
e in alto la stella della sera
sorride al bimbo da lontano:
"Buona notte! buona notte!
Bambino bello, buona notte!".

La culla dondola lieve
la pendola fa tic-tac,
Le mosche ancora in volo
vanno ronzando piano.
Mosche non molestate il mio bimbo!
Cosa gli dite col vostro ronzio?
"Buona notte! buona notte!
Bambino bello, buona notte!".

Gli uccelli e tutte le stelle
che stanno attorno al mio bimbo,
gli vogliono tanto bene,
e gli angeli ancora di più!
Lo proteggono con le loro ali
e cantano dolcemente: "Dormi sereno,
Buona notte! buona notte!
Bambino bello, buona notte!".

2. Über allen Gipfeln ist Ruh  [sung text not yet checked]
by Martin Jacobi (1864 - 1919), "Über allen Gipfeln ist Ruh", op. 8 (Zwei Lieder für 1 Singstimme mit Pianofortebegleitung) no. 2, published 1894 [ alto or baritone and piano ], Berlin, Paez
Language: German (Deutsch)
Über allen [Gipfeln]1
Ist Ruh',
In allen Wipfeln
Spürest du
Kaum einen Hauch;
Die [Vögelein]2 schweigen im Walde.
Warte nur, balde
Ruhest du auch.3

Confirmed with Goethe's Werke. Vollständige Ausgabe letzter Hand. Erster Band. Stuttgart und Tübingen, in der J.G.Cotta'schen Buchhandlung. 1827, page 109; and with Goethe's Werke. Erster Band. Stuttgart und Tübingen, in der J. G. Cotta'schen Buchhandlung. 1815, page 99.

Note: in many older editions, the spelling of the capitalized word "über" becomes "Ueber", but this is often due to the printing process and not to rules of orthography, since the lower-case version is not "ueber", so we use "Über".

See also J.D. Falk's poem Unter allen Wipfeln ist Ruh.

1 Flügel, Gaugler, Hasse, Radecke: "Wipfeln" (according to the incipits given in Hofmeister) ; further changes may exist not noted above.
2 Greith, Schubert: "Vöglein"
3 Lachner adds
Über allen Wipfeln
Ist Ruh',
Balde
Ruhest du auch.

by Johann Wolfgang von Goethe (1749 - 1832)
2. Sopra ogni vetta
Language: Italian (Italiano)
Sopra ogni vetta
È pace,
Su ogni albero
senti tu
appena un respiro;
Gli uccelli tacciono nel bosco,
aspetta, presto
avrai pace anche tu!
