Ici les saules murmurent tristement, Et dans le vent les roseaux tremblent. Le long d'un chemin secret de la forêt J'aime me faufiler dans la lumière du soir ; Je vais vers la rive déserte couverte de roseaux, Ma mie, et je pense à toi ! Quand les buissons deviennent noirs, Les roseaux murmurent mystérieusement, Il y a des lamentations, des chuchotements, De sorte que je pleure et ne peux m'empêcher de pleurer. Translation of title "Schilflied" = "Chant des roseaux"Sur l'étang, immobile, S'étend l'éclat délicat de la lune Tissant ses pâles roses Dans la verte couronne des roseaux. Des cerfs passent là-bas sur la colline; Levant le regard vers la nuit; Parfois des oiseaux s'agitent, Rêveurs, au sein des joncs. En pleurant, je dois abaisser mon regard; Au plus profond de mon âme passe Une douce pensée de toi Comme une silencieuse prière nocturne.
