Eilt, Ihr Schäfer aus den Gründen,
Eilt zu meinem Thyrsis hin,
Und, sobald Ihr ihn könnt finden,
Sagt, dass ich ihm günstig bin;
Sagt, was er mir mitgenommen,
Nennt die Freiheit und mein Herz;
Sagt er soll auch wiederkommen,
Denn man treibt damit nicht Scherz.

Hâtez-vous et dites au cher berger
Que Doris ne le taquinera plus,
Qu'entre ces myrtes, plus jamais
Elle ne se cachera de lui traîtreusement,
Dites-lui que dans cette écorce
J'ai gravé mes peines d'amour,
Que maintenant je ressens tout
Ce que le pauvre a souffert pour moi.

Ah, ma jeune vie,
Est déjà minée par la douleur de l'amour.
Dites-lui qu'il devrait revenir vers moi,
Ce qu'il a pris si cruellement.
Qu'il ne devrait pas plus longtemps me blesser,
Car à l'arbre le plus proche je pourrais
De désespoir me pendre,
