Vom Grund bis zu den Gipfeln,
So weit man sehen kann,
Jetzt blüht's in allen Wipfeln,
Nun geht das Wandern an:
Die Quellen von den Klüften,
Die Ström' auf grünem Plan,
Die Lerchen hoch in Lüften,
Der Dichter frisch voran.
Und die im Tal verderben
In trüber Sorgen Haft,
Er möcht sie alle werben
Zu dieser Wanderschaft.
Und von den Bergen nieder
Erschallt sein Lied ins Tal,
Und die zerstreuten Brüder
Faßt Heimweh allzumal.
Da wird die Welt so munter
Und nimmt die Reiseschuh,
Sein Liebchen mittendrunter
Die nickt ihm heimlich zu.
Und über Felsenwände
Und auf dem grünen Plan
Das wirrt und jauchzt ohn Ende --
Nun geht das Wandern an!

De la vallée jusqu'aux sommets

De la vallée jusqu'aux sommets,
Aussi loin que l'on peut voir,
Les cimes de tous les arbres fleurissent,
Alors commence la randonnée.
Les sources des crevasses,
Les fleuves sur la verte plaine,
Les alouettes, haut dans les airs,
Et devant, le poète alerte.
Et ceux qui dépérissent dans la vallée,
Prisonniers de troubles appréhensions,
Le poète voudrait tous les engager
À se joindre à ce voyage.
Et descendant de la montagne,
Son chant retentit dans la vallée,
Et ses frères dispersés
Sont tous saisis du mal du pays.
Tout le monde devient alors joyeux,
On prend ses chaussures de marche,
Et au milieu de la foule, sa bien-aimée
Lui fait un signe à la dérobée.
Et au-dessus des parois rocheuses,
Et sur la verte plaine
On se mêle et se réjouit sans fin –
Alors commence la randonnée !
