Wie erhebt sich das Herz, wenn es dich,
Unendlicher, denkt! wie sinkt es,
Wenns auf sich herunterschaut!
Elend schauts wehklagend dann, und Nacht und Tod!

Allein du rufst mich aus meiner Nacht, der im Elend, der im Tod hilft!
Dann denk ich es ganz, daß du ewig mich schufst,
Herlicher! den kein Preis, unten am Grab', oben am Thron,
Herr Herr Gott, den dankend entflamt, kein Jubel genug besingt.

Weht, Bäume des Lebens, ins Harfengetön!
Rausche mit ihnen ins Harfengetön, krystallner Strom!
Ihr lispelt und rauscht, und, Harfen, ihr tönt
Nie es ganz! Gott ist es, den ihr preist!

Donnert, Welten, in feyerlichem Gang, in der Posaunen Chor!

Aan de Oneindige

Hoe verheft zich het hart, als 't  aan U, Oneindige, denkt!
Hoe zinkt het,
Als het zichzelf, zo laag, aanschouwt!
Treurnis ziet 't weeklagend dan, en nacht en dood!
 
Alleen Gij roept mij weg uit mijn nacht, die in rampspoed, die in doodsnood helpt!
Dan weet ik het echt, dat Gij  eeuwig mij schiept,
Heerlijke, wie geen lof -- onder bij 't graf, boven ten troon --
Heer God, wie, dankend ontvlamd, geen jubel genoeg bezingt!
 
Wuift, bomen des levens, in 't harpenkoor mee!
Ruis met hen samen in 't harpenkoor mee, kristallen stroom!
Gij lispelt en ruist, en, harpen, gij tolkt
Het nooit totaal! God is het, God is het die gij prijst!
 
Werelden, dondert in hoogverheven gang,
Werelden, dondert in het bazuinenkoor.
Dreunt, alle zonnen in je stralende baan,
In het bazuinenkoor!
 
Gij werelden, gij dondert,
Jij, het bazuinenkoor, tolkt het
