In Mond erhellten Nächten
Language: German (Deutsch)
Our translations:  CAT DUT ENG FRE ITA
In Mond erhellten Nächten,
Mit dem Geschick' zu rechten,
Hat diese Brust verlernt.
Der Himmel, reich besternt,
Umwoget mich mit Frieden.
Da denk' ich: Auch hienieden
Gedeihet manche Blume;
Und frischer schaut der stumme,
Sonst trübe Blick hinauf
Zu ew'ger Sterne Lauf.

Auf ihnen quälen Schmerzen,
Auf ihnen bluten Herzen -
Sie aber strahlen heiter.
So schließ' ich selig weiter:
Auch unsre kleine Erde,
Voll Mißton und Gefährde,
Sich als ein heiter Licht
In's Diadem verflicht.
So werden Sterne
Durch die Ferne!

De sterrennachten
Language: Dutch (Nederlands)  after the German (Deutsch)
In maanverlichte nachten
Het noodlot willen ontkrachten?
Wanhopig 'k daarvan werd.
De hemel, rijk besterd,
Omvademt mij met vrede;
Dan denk ik: hier beneden
Ook groeien heel wat bloemen;
Ik laat mij niet verdoemen
En kijk omhoog vol hoop
Naar d' eeuwige sterrenloop.

Op hen ook bloeden harten,
Op hen ook lijdt men smarten,
Zij echter stralen vrolijk.
Dus concludeer ik olijk:
Ook onze kleine aarde,
Vol wanklank en gevaren,
Zit als een lichte steen
In 's hemels diadeem;
Het worden sterren
Door het verre!
