Die Sonne, sie bleibet am Himmel nicht stehn, Es treibt sie, durch Länder und Meere zu gehn. Die Woge nicht haftet am einsamen Strand, Die Stürme, sie brausen mit Macht durch das Land. Allons ! Buvons encore du vin pétillant ! Adieu maintenant, vous que j'aime ! Il faut se séparer. Adieu maintenant, vous montagnes, toi, maison paternelle ! Une force me pousse à partir au loin. Le soleil ne reste pas planté au ciel, Il est poussé à aller à travers pays et mers. La vague ne reste pas fixée à la plage solitaire, Les tempêtes grondent avec force sur les terres. L'oiseau s'en va avec les nuages pressés Et chante au loin la chanson de son pays, L'homme est ainsi poussé par forêts et champs Tout comme l'est sa mère, la nature vagabonde. Ici au-dessus de la mer, les oiseaux le reconnaissent et le saluent, Ils ont volé jusqu'ici depuis les champs de leur pays, Là, autour de lui les fleurs embaument familièrement, Les vents les ont poussées ici depuis leur pays. Les oiseaux connaissent sa maison paternelle, Il a planté un jour des fleurs pour un bouquet d'amour, Et Amour qui le suit le tient par la main : Ainsi son pays deviendra le pays le plus lointain.
