Ehre sey dem Hocherhabnen, dem Ersten, dem Vater der Schöpfung,
Dem unsre Psalmen stammeln,
Obgleich der wunderbare Er
Unaussprechlich, und undenkbar ist.

Eine Flamme von dem Altar an dem Thron
Ist in unsre Seele geströmt!
Wir freun uns Himmelsfreuden,
Daß wir sind, und über Ihn erstaunen können!

Ehre sey ihm auch von uns an den Gräbern hier,
Obwohl an seines Thrones lezten Stufen
Des Erzengels niedergeworfne Krone
Und seines Preisgesangs Wonne tönt.

Ehre sey und Dank und Preis dem Hocherhabnen, dem Ersten,
Der nicht begann, und nicht aufhören wird!
Der sogar des Staubs Bewohnern gab,

Ere zij de Hoogverheev'ne, de Eerste, de Vader der Schepping,
Tot wie wij psalmen staam'len,
Ofschoon die wonderbare Hij
Onuitspreek'lijk en ondenkbaar is!

En een vuurvonk van het altaar bij de troon
Is in onze ziel ingestroomd!
Wij zijn vol hemelvreugden,
Dat wij zijn, en over Hem ons verbazen kunnen!

Ere zij Hem ook van ons bij de graven hier,
Hoewel van op de treden van zijn zetel
Door d' aartsengel nedergeworpen glanskroon
En van diens lofgezang jubel klinkt!

Ere zij, en dank en lof, de Hoogverheev'ne, de Eerste,
Die niet begon en niet eindigen zal!
Die aan zelfs de stofbewoners 't gaf,
Geen eind te vinden!
