Prinz Sisi und die Frau Mama
(Sung text for setting by E. Frank)

Language: German (Deutsch)  after the English
Our translations:  ENG
Prinz Sisi und die Frau Mama,
  Die tranken ihren Kaffee,
Und als Klein-Ännchen kam vorbei,
  Da riefen beide: O je!

Prinz Sisi sprach zur Frau Mama:
  Welch' holde Creatur,
Wo kommt sie her, wo geht sie hin
  Ach, wenn ich's wüsste nur!

Die Frau Mama zu Sisi sprach:
  Sie ist ein Menschenkind
Mit Augen, Nase, Mund und Stirn
  Wie andre Menschen sind!

Und ist dies Kind ein Menschenkind,
  So will ich sie zur Frau;
Sie fehlt mir noch zu meinem Glück,
  Ich weiss es jetzt genau!

Klein-Ännchen sah die beiden an,
  Klein-Ännchen sagt kein Wort,
Sie schüttelt ihren Lockenkopf
  Und läuft dann eilends fort.

Prince Sisi and his Madam Mother
(Sung text translation for setting by E. Frank)
 See original
Language: English  after the German (Deutsch)
Prince Sisi and his Madam Mother,
  Were drinking their coffee,
And when little Annie passed by
  They both cried: Oh dear!

Prince Sisi said to his Madam Mother:
  What a lovely creature,
Where does she come from, where is she going
Ah, if I only knew it!

Madam Mother said to Sisi:
  She is a human child
With eyes, nose, mouth and brow
  Like other people are!

And if this child be a human child,
  Then I want her as my wife;
She is what is still missing for my happiness,
  I now know it exactly!

Little Annie looked at the two of them,
Little Annie said not a word,
She shook her head of curls
  And ran away hastily.
