Die Maikönigin
(Sung text for setting by Anonymous)

Language: German (Deutsch)
Our translations:  ENG
Maria, Maienkönigin!
   Dich will der Mai begrüßen,
O segne seinen Anbeginn,
   Und uns zu Deinen Füßen.

Maria! Dir befehlen wir,
Was grünt und blüht auf Erden,
O laß es eine Himmelszier
   In Gottes Garten werden.

Behüte uns mit treuem Fleiß,
   O Königin der Frauen!
Die Herzenblüthen lilienweiß
   Auf grüen Maiesauen.

Vor allen sind’s der Blümlein drei,
   Die laß kein Sturm entlauben:
Die Hoffnung grün und sorgenfrei,
   Die Liebe und den Glauben.

O laß die Blumen um und um
   In allen Herzen sprossen,
Und mache sie zum Heiligthum,
   Drinn sich der Mai erschlossen.

The Queen of May
(Sung text translation for setting by Anonymous)
 See original
Language: English  after the German (Deutsch)
Mary, Queen of May!
   May wishes to greet you,
Oh bless its beginning,
And bless us at Thy feet.

Mary! To Thee we entrust,
What greens and blooms on earth,
Oh let it become an ornament of heaven
   In God’s garden.

Protect for us with faithful diligence,
   Oh Queen of Women!
The lily-white blossoms of the heart
Upon the green meadows of May.

Before all others, protect three flowers,
   Let no storm defoliate them:
Hope, green and free of anxiety,
   Love and Faith.

Oh let the flowers all around
   Spring up in every heart,
And make them into a sanctuary,
Within which May has revealed itself.
