Ritournelle
 (Sung text for setting by G. Pierné)
 See original
Language: French (Français)
Our translations:  ENG ENG

Pour mieux écouter les choses charmantes ;

Je serai poète, et toi poésie ;

In the bright meadow and along the lanes
 (Sung text translation for setting by G. Pierné)
 See original
Language: English  after the French (Français)
In the bright meadow and along the lanes,
to better welcome the sweetness of summer,
We will go chasing winged things,
me, the verse, and you, the golden butterfly.

And we will choose winding pathways,
under the gray willows and near the water reeds,
To better hear everything singing;
Me, the rhythm, and you, the chorus of birds.

Both of us following the rivers banks,
charmed by the rivers pulsating waves,
We will find you, perfumed things,
me collecting verses, you gathering flowers.

And love, serving our fantasy,
will make this summer day even more inviting,
I will be poet, and you poetry;
You will be more beautiful, and I more loving.
