Und in den grünen Wald spazieren gehn.

Und als sie nun in den grünen Wald kam,
Da fand sie einen verwundeten Knab'n.

Der Knab', der war von Blut so rot,
Und als sie sich verwandt, war er schon tot.

"Wo krieg' ich nun zwei Leidfräulein,
Die mein fein's Liebchen zu Grabe wein'n?

Wo krieg' ich nun sechs Reuterknab'n,
Die mein fein's Liebchen zu Grabe trag'n?

Wie lang' soll ich denn trauren geh'n?
Bis alle Wasser zusammengeh'n?

Ja, alle Wasser gehn nicht zusamm,
So wird mein Trauren kein Ende ha'n.

Una noia va decidir de llevar-se d’hora
i anar a passejar per el verd boscatge.

I quan ella arribà al verd boscatge,
trobà un noi que estava ferit.

El noi estava tot vermell de sang
i quan ella s’hi atansà, ja era mort.

“On puc trobar dues ploraneres
per plorar a la tomba del meu estimat?

On puc trobar sis joves cavallers
que portin el meu estimat a la tomba?

Quan de temps haig d’estar de dol?
Fins que totes les aigües s’ajuntin?

Sí, les aigües no s’ajuntaran
i així el meu dol no tindrà fi.”
