Ein Veilchen blüht im Thale,
Erwacht am Morgenstrahle;
So duftig und so blau
Ist keines mehr auf der Au'.

Still guckt es aus dem Moose;
In seinem goldnen Schooße
Blinkt Thau so hell und rein,
Wie flüß'ger Edelstein.

"Willst hier so ungesehen
Im kalten Moos vergehen?
Komm mit in mild'res Thal,
In schön'rer Sonne Strahl."

"Sollst dort in laur'n Zonen,
In Blumenhügeln wohnen,
Wo nie der Schnee vergeht,
Doch ew'ger Frühling weht!"

’t Viooltje in de dalen
Ontwaakt in ‘t morgenstralen;
Zo geurig en zo blauw
Is geen in de landouw.

Stil in een drassig zootje
Verschijnt zijn gouden schootje.
Daarin blinkt dauw zo rein
Als vloeibaar toermalijn.

“Wil jij hier zonder schijnen
In ’t koude veen verkwijnen?
Kom mee naar ’n milder dal,
Naar ’n mooier licht vooral.

Daar zul j’ in lauw’re dreven
Op bloemenheuvels leven,
Waar nooit de sneeuw verdwijnt
Maar eeuw’ge lente schijnt!”
