Wie auf Goldgrund ruhte dein schönes Haupt.
Und du erschienst mir wie eine Heilige,
Mild, mild und groß und wonneübervoll,
Heilig und rein wie die liebe Sonne.
Und in die Augen
Schwoll mir ein warmer Drang, 
Wie Tränenahnung.
Fester faßt' ich dich

els teus ulls en el meus.
La lluna abocava la seva llum d’argent
sobre el teu rostre,
com damunt d’un pilar d’or reposava la teva formosa testa.
I tu em semblaves com una santa,
benigna, benigna i gran i repleta d’ànima,
santa i pura com l’estimat sol.
I als ulls
em sorgí un càlid rampell,
com una premonició de llàgrimes.
Et vaig abraçar més fort
