Nur Mut
(Sung text for setting by P. Hindemith)
 See original
Language: German (Deutsch)
Our translations:  ENG FRE
Aus Wolken fällt die frohe Stunde,
O Mensch, gesunde!
Lass Leiden fliehn und Bangigkeit,
Wenn Liebchens Kuss dein Herz erfreut.

In Küssen weht ein Zaubersegen,
Drum sey verwegen,
Was fürchten, wenn der Donner rollt,
Wenn nur der rothe Mund nicht schmollt.

Composition:

Set to music by Paul Hindemith (1895 - 1963), "Nur Mut", op. 35, Heft 1 no. 3 (1924) [ soprano, oboe, and viola ], from Die Serenaden, no. 3

Only courage
(Sung text translation for setting by P. Hindemith)
 See original
Language: English  after the German (Deutsch)
From the heavens falls the joyous time,
O man, be well!
Let suffering flee, and timidity,
When the kiss of your sweetheart delights your heart.

Kissing wafts a magical blessing,
So be bold!
What is so frightening when thunder rolls,
So long as those red lips do not pout?
