Holder, leichtbeschwingter Bote
   Den die Liebe wandeln heißt,
Grüße mit den schönen Grüßen
   Jene Rose, die du weißt.

Melde, daß mir in die Lüfte
   Schwinde der gequälte Geist,
Wenn sie nicht zu spenden eilet
   Jene Spende, die du weißt.

Ach! zu wissen und zu missen,
   Was mit Himmelswonne speis't,
Das gebiert die bange Trauer
   Die gefähre, die du weißt.

Denn was sind die Paradiese,
   Welche der Entzückte preist,
Gegen jene Flur der Liebe,
   Die du weißt.
