by Johann Wolfgang von Goethe (1749 - 1832)
Translation by Kazimierz Brodziński (1791 - 1835)

Die Bekehrte
Language: German (Deutsch)
Our translations:  CAT ENG FRE ITA
Bei dem Glanz der Abendröthe
Ging ich still den Wald entlang,
Damon saß und blies die Flöte,
Daß es von den Felsen klang,
So la la! . . .

Und er zog mich [zu]1 sich nieder,
Küßte mich so [hold, so]2 süß.
Und ich sagte: blase wieder!
Und der gute Junge blies,
So la la! . . .

Meine [Ruh]3 ist nun verloren,
Meine Freude floh davon,
Und ich [hör']4 vor meinen Ohren
Immer nur den alten Ton,
So la la, le ralla! . . .

Nawrócona
(Sung text for setting by S. Moniuszko)

Language: Polish (Polski)  after the German (Deutsch)
Wieczorem, pewnego czasu,
Szłam sama około lasu,
Na flecie grał Damon tkliwie,
Po całéj go słychać niwie,
   Tak: la la la!

Przynęcił mię, ośmiełony
Całował mię bez obrony;
Mówiłam mu: pograj chwilę!
I zagrał mi bardzo mile,
   Tak: la la la!

Zginęły swobody moie!
Odbiegły mię iuż pokoie,
I nigdy to lube granie,
Brzmieć w uszach mi nie przestanie,
   Tak: la la la!
